Our Nutrition Program includes the following services: hot home delivered meals (Meals-On-Wheels), frozen meals and five (5) dining site locations throughout Door County.
To be eligible for our nutrition program on a donation basis (suggested $5.00 per meal), a person must meet any of the following criteria:
- Age 60 or older
- Any spouse who attends the dining site with their spouse who is age 60 or older
- An adult with a disability who lives at home with an older adult participating in the program
- A family member caring for someone older than 60 years of age, who also lives with their loved one they are providing care for
The suggested donation is $5.00 per meal; however, no one will be turned away because he/she cannot make the suggested contribution. Menus and program activities are shared monthly in our newsletter and weekly on our ADRC Facebook Page.
Meal reservations are required in advance, by noon the prior weekday for the following Dining Sites: Brussels, Baileys Harbor, Liberty Grove and Washington Island.
Reservations are NOT required for our Sturgeon Bay Dining Site, besides on days we are hosting a special event or celebration. Those events and celebrations are highlighted on the menu located on the back of our monthly newsletter
For general information or to reserve a meal please call our Nutrition Program phone number at (920) 746-2523.
Our Hot Home Delivered Meal program is available to older adults who have a difficulty getting out of their home and unable to prepare meals for themselves or do not have assistance in preparing meals.
Meals are delivered between 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. For those requiring additional meals, there are frozen meals available to eat on the weekends or who live outside of our hot home delivered meal routes.
Our dining sites are warm, welcoming places for older adults age 60 and over to socialize and enjoy tasty, nutritious noon meals with other individuals of similar age and interest. Each site has a variety of daily programs and activities. There is a friendly manager on site who is knowledgeable about services and can offer important information, services or referrals.
Who Attends a Dining Site?
Dining Site participants are from all walks of life, all income levels and some are married; some are single. All are welcome!
Our Dining Sites offer hot and healthy meals daily and are open to anyone age 60 and older and a spouse of any age. There is no charge for the meal, but we suggest a $5.00 contribution per meal to help us supplement some of the operating costs to administer our Nutrition Program. No one will be denied a meal due to the inability or unwillingness to contribute.
